Spotlight: Erica Mather

I had the privilege of meeting Erica Mather and the pleasure of reading an early release of her upcoming book, Your Body, Your Best Friend. Erica’s wisdom and calm, assuring demeanor are comparable to talking with a dear friend. Her honesty and authenticity, along with her insightful tackling of tough topics (think body image, confidence, fulfilling societal expectations), are refreshing and inspiring.

Erica’s own struggles with her body began when she was in middle school and followed her into young adulthood. Her discovery of yoga (under the tutelage of Ana Forrest) propelled her into a field of awareness around the body’s beauty, power, and capability. Erica runs her Forrest yoga-based practice out of NYC, and founded the Adore Your Body curriculum to help women break free from the cultural messages that feed negative body image and stand in the way of becoming their most authentic and radiant selves.

“Adore Your Body” was Erica’s impetus behind publishing a self-help book, offering her knowledge and skills to the world. I can personally attest that the book is powerful, imparting “Lessons” such as ”Disarm the Happiness Trap”, “The Grass is Never Greener” and “You Are More Than Your Body.” You can preorder Your Body, Your Best Friend now on Amazon! And give Erica a follow at @erica_mather.

MY TOP 3 ERICA LESSONS:

  • “Growth doesn’t come without confrontation; that’s the nature of things. If evolving were easy, everyone would be doing it! Finding out what you’re here to do with your one precious life is a practice.”

  • “To be human is to be perfectly imperfect. Perfection is a cruel mistress in so many ways. She doesn’t allow for failures and mistakes. She denies us our own essence and our spiritual birthright - to evolve and grow as individuals through mistakes and failures.”

  • “Our time and energy are limited resources. Concern yourself with spending them in ways that raise your personal capital.”
