Mastering the Midlife Wardrobe

Getting dressed in the morning seems like it should be the simplest part of our routine.  However, many of us midlife mamas are finding this to be one of the day’s greatest challenges. And feeling defeated is NOT the way to start our day.

Why is it such a struggle? Well for one, we likely have an abundance of clothes hanging in our closet that just don’t fit right anymore. There are tops and jeans and dresses that just make us feel frustrated when we grab for them. Secondly, hitting middle age also presents the question of what is age appropriate? Can we pull off the same looks our teens are wearing? Finally, we have lost confidence (thanks to the aforementioned) in what styles work or what actually looks good on us.

So, this month, I decided to try Stitch Fix.  For the unfamiliar, Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. You take a quiz on your style preferences, fit and price range and your shopper gets to work!

You pay $20 for a “styling fee” which is credited towards any pieces you purchase. Your wardrobe arrives with prepaid packaging that you simply drop in the mail. I love this convenience of trying on in my own closet and then dropping my returns into a ready-to-go return envelope! (By the way, you can shop on demand or sign up for a subscription)

From my first delivery, I kept 4 pieces! (pictured above) I’m now eagerly awaiting my next delivery.

Stay tuned as I report back next month, and also share another option if this “shop at home” easy styling hack has you interested!
